A softball game under, the governing body of softball in the United States of America, should constitute from 8-10 members. The members include; a pitcher at the pitcher rubber or pitcher’s mound, a catcher-located behind the home plate, first, second, third basemen, one shortstop, right, left and center outfielders. A field of softball has two parts; the outfield that is located behind the diamond mark and the infield being the area inside the bases. The infield constitutes the home plate, the first, second and third bases which are 60 feet apart.
In playing, the base runner must touch one base to advance to the next base, but if the next batter hits the softball then the base runner will stop. The teams will alternate positions after each innings, that is the team that was defending will become the batting team and vice versa. When pitching in softball, the pitcher must leave one foot on the mound to make a successful pitch. To be ruled out, a batter must accumulate up to three strikes which include foul ball and foul tips. As a protective measure, a rule about gear wearing has come up, and all members must wear protective gears which include; shin guards, helmets and protective body covers. A standard softball game ends after seven innings, and the team with the highest number of innings wins the game. Time limits have also been set in recent changes made on the softball rule; a game must end within a time frame of not more than one and half hours.
